Food Minister Mette Gjerskov is preparing to order all cafeterias, restaurants, staff canteens and other kitchens that serve the general public, to parboil frozen raspberries before they are served in any way, according to Jyllands-Posten.
The move, which is to await EU sanction, comes following several outbreaks of viral gastroenteritis in 2010 and 2011 due to berries infected with the norovirus. In the final quarter of 2010 and in 2011 some 275 cases of the raspberry-induced illness were registered, 261 of which were the result of Serbian berries.
