Former defence chief at ease over Iraq

Denmark’s former chief of defence says he is not worried at disclosures of the way in which Iraqis were detained and handed over to local authorities during the Iraq War, or the prospect of an investigation into what orders were issued to Danish soldiers, and by whom.

Politiken has recently disclosed that British and Iraqi forces undertook detentions and arrests during Danish operations in Iraq in order to avoid Danish troops being responsible for handing detainees over to Iraqi authorities.
