Some 40 per cent of Danes would prefer a royal succession to take place within the next decade, with some 11 per cent suggesting a succession should take place immediately, according to a Megafon poll for Politiken and TV2.
But experts say that an abdication is out of the question, and not part of the Danish tradition.
