Foreign Minister Villy Søvndal says he is happy with the United Nations Security Council’s unanimous agreement on a statement on Syria, which calls for the immediate introduction of a peace plan developed by former UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan.
The unanimous decision came about following lengthy negotiations with Russia and China, who have previously vetoed resolutions targeted at the Syrian regime.
