Those who are allergic to birch pollen should remember their medication as the season has begun and warm weather with lots of sun causes trees to free more pollen into the air.
“The days around May 1st are normally the worst time for birch pollen. This year is no different, particularly as the trees have begun flowering at a time when there’s lots of sun and heat which the trees like. That gives more pollen,” says Janne Sommer, a biologist at the Asthma-Allergy Federation.
