Steen Andersen and Stig Elling have live together for 27 years, and at 1 p.m. on Friday they became the first gay couple to be married in church following the recent parliamentary decision to allow homosexuals a full church wedding.

Vicar Michael Hemmingsen performed the marriage ceremony at Frederiksberg Church, using a ceremony specially developed for homosexual marriages by eight of Denmark’s 10 bishops.
