Shops saying no to cash

An increasing number of businesses are ignoring legislation which requires them to accept notes and coins as payment, shunning cash which is both expensive to handle and increases the risk of theft and robbery.

The latest to make the move is the gastronomy chain Cofoco, or Copenhagen Food Consulting, which is only prepared to take credit card payments in its four Le Marché restaurants as of July 1.
