Lolland has many children and young people struggling with school. The municipality finds it difficult to retain resourceful young people and receives many welfare recipients from elsewhere, says the mayor.

In Lolland Municipality, more than one in four public school students failed their final exams in either Danish or math, or both subjects, in the 2023/2024 school year.

This makes the municipality the worst of all the Danish municipalities, with a national average of 12 percent.
