A small crowd has gathered outside Møller & Mammen hardware store at the corner of Adelgade and Gothersgade on Monday morning in Copenhagen. The summer sun casts a cheerful glow over the street, where traffic inches by. Some wear work pants and have hardened hands, while others sport high heels and light summer attire.

Two carpenters pass the time by slicing strawberries in half with their utility knives before popping them into their mouths. They’re waiting for a bracket to complete a job in the city.
