When minors are targeted online to be recruited for drug crimes, cyber attacks, online fraud, extortion, violence, or murder, criminals use cunning manipulations to foster loyalty and a sense of belonging, which can lure teenagers into criminal activities.

They attempt to make young people feel »special« by presenting illegal activities as exclusive opportunities for those who possess unique qualities, and they particularly appeal to minors who seek recognition, protection, or a sense of community.
