Several places in the country, one of the newest and most contentious political issues seems to have significantly impacted the political landscape that local citizens will wake up to on Wednesday.

Namely, the opposition to the solar parks that Danmarksdemokraterne have dubbed ‘iron fields,’ and the ‘giant’ wind turbine parks that have sparked extensive citizen protests in certain parts of the country. Even in the municipal elections in 2021, renewable energy was a topic here and there, but this is the first time that, according to experts, it has had such a notable presence in many local elections.
