A type of medication intended as an alternative to opioids for pain management is gaining traction in Danish medicine cabinets. These prescription drugs, pregabalin and gabapentin, fall under the category of gabapentinoids.

In recent years, there has been an explosive growth in prescriptions, particularly from general practitioners.
