The snow crunches under the conscripts’ sneakers. They stand side by side in small groups, their eyes fixed on the sergeant. No one is wearing gloves. Few have hats on. But they all wear a colored band that divides them into units.

»Think pizza slice«, shouts a sergeant, and the conscripts look down at each other’s feet. Heels come together, and chests are pushed forward.
