Klara Trebbien Rasmussen has written a book about her time as an unskilled worker in a conventional pig farm. It is not reading for the faint-hearted.

When she quit after a month, she had thrown so many piglets onto the concrete floor that her shoulder had started to ache.

Klara Trebbien Rasmussen had never euthanized a mammal before, when she stepped into the production hall of a farm somewhere in Denmark and donned overalls to work as an unskilled agricultural worker a day in the spring of 2025.

Before that, she had changed her name to ’Klara Rasmussen’ so that it wouldn’t be discovered that she was a journalist.
