I slutningen af 1980’erne kom det som et lammende chok for lægerne, danskerne og politikerne på Christiansborg, at vi ikke længere var nogle af dem, der levede længst og bedst i verden.
Det medførte store forandringer på vores hospitaler og i behandlingen af alvorlige sygdomme. Men det har ikke ændret på det faktum, at vi danskere fortsat har nogle af de korteste liv blandt de nationer, vi plejer at sammenligne os med.
