Long lines of travelers have snaked through several European airports in recent weeks. In some places, passengers have waited in line for as long as five hours, and several flights have had to depart without all travelers on board.

The long queues are the result of the new European border-control system, EES — the Entry/Exit System — which since October 2025 has been gradually rolled out at European airports.
