Health care workers struggle to get time off when their children are sick

One day, a midwife called Aarhus University Hospital in Skejby to report off for a day shift because her child was sick. She was told no, because she was the third person to call in with a sick child that day.

That is not an unusual situation at the country’s hospitals.
