Diary bill harvests criticism

The media has previously used ministerial diaries as a means of documenting ministerial activities such as Prime Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen’s hotel bill following a private Christmas party or the former Deputy Prime Minister Bendt Bendtsen’s hunting trips.

This will no longer be possible, however, if the bill that begins its race through Parliament today, is passed into law. A large government-opposition majority in Parliament has agreed to rush the bill through, cutting out the hearing phase in which external experts are able to point out problems with the proposed legislation.
