It sounded fairly simple when the Danish People’s Party, one Monday in early August, offered its solution to soaring food prices.
VAT on all food should be scrapped for two years, financed by »cutting all foreign nationals off from access to Danish welfare benefits and services«, the party’s finance spokesman, Anders Vistisen, told reporters outside Hjerting Badehotel, where the Danish People’s Party was holding its summer caucus meeting.
