Judge Song Sang-hyun of South Korea has been elected to a three year term as president of the International Criminal Court, replacing Canada's Philippe Kirsch, whose term ended this week.

Song is a former adviser to South Korea's high court and ministry of justice and helped reform his country's penal code and court procedures.
