Attempts to bring equality into the Danish royal household, by changing laws governing royal succession, may fall through the cracks due to a low turnout in a referendum being held on the same day as European Parliament elections, according to Berlingske Tidende.

At least 40 percent of the electorate must vote in favour of the law in order for it to be passed, but a new Gallup poll shows that only 40.2 percent say they will actually vote – suggesting passage of the law is on thin ice.
