Permanent Under-Secretary Peter Loft at the Tax Ministry tried to meddle in the handling of a case at the Copenhagen Tax Authority last year, in which Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt’s tax affairs were being studied to determine whether there were irregularities.
Several sources have told Politiken that Loft sent a special text about the prime minister’s private tax affairs to the Copenhagen Tax Authority in the hope that it would be included in the final report. The Authority did not find the text relevant and did not include it in the final report.
