A majority of Copenhagen Council politicians have now decided to drop their plans for a ban on lorries over 18 tonnes using central Copenhagen. The ban was due to have taken effect on February 1, 2009.

The decision to drop the ban, which was designed to stop right-turn accidents involving pedestrians and cyclists, was taken after an independent report showed that the ban would not increase traffic safety.
