Denmark’s Social Democrats say they are deeply concerned at an apparent ambiguity within NATO about what is acceptable and what is not in the battle to stem Afghan narcotics production.
“We must now have clarification on this. It is unacceptable that there are different views as to the role of our troops in Afghanistan,” says Social Democratic Foreign Policy Spokesman Mogens Lykketoft, commenting on reports that NATO commander John Craddock wants the alliance to kill opium dealers without proof of connection to the Taliban insurgency.
