A majority of Danes feel that Denmark should sell off its public holding in the Scandinavian Airlines System, and an even greater majority opposes plans to purchase half a billion kroner in a new stock issue designed to help SAS out of its severe financial doldrums.
Half of SAS is jointly owned by Sweden, Denmark and Norway – each of whom have promised to purchase shares in the new issue. Denmark currently owns 14.3 percent of stock in SAS and has earmarked DKK 525 million for the April new issue. Norway owns a similar 14.3 percent while Sweden owns 21.4 percent of stock.
