The publication by WikiLeaks of 251,287 confidential diplomatic documents can end up by restricting information and making the world less safe, according to four former Danish foreign ministers who have been responsible for Danish foreign policy for 30 years.
“No-one can have anything against exposing the course of events in which a government has attempted to subdue embarrassing information. But it is dangerous when confidential diplomatic information is leaked in this way as it can prevent processes that can be beneficial,” says former Foreign Minister Mogens Lykketoft (SocDem), who was foreign minister from 2000-2001.
