Trade unions are considering increasing their demands on notice periods in connection with next year’s private sector negotiations as a result of the government’s decision to halve the unemployment benefit period from four to two years.
“That is more than highly likely. This is a clear attack on labour rights, so we have to try to protect ourselves from unemployment. And that, among other issues, is by demanding longer notice periods,” says Kim Simonsen, chairman of the commercial and clerical employees union HK.
