Oil companies such as A.P. Møller-Mærsk, Shell and Chevron are earning increasingly well from N. Sea oil extraction, but the Danish state has not been party to the extra earnings as a result of an agreement between a previous centre-right government and oil companies.
According to calculations carried out by the Concito think tank, public coffers have missed out on some DKK 75 billion in the 2003-2011 period. With current oil prices above USD 100 per barrel, Concito says that losses for the Danish state are at around DKK 10 billion per year.
