The pause often plays a crucial role in Defense Minister and Venstre (Center-right party, V) leader Troels Lund Poulsen’s speeches, much like the little word ’uh’ frequently finds its way in.

On the Tuesday before Easter, when he was in Varde to speak with sheep farmers – and later with TV 2 – there was an exceptionally long pause. This occurred as he tried to explain why Venstre, just before Denmark shut down for Easter holidays, had chosen to enter the wolf debate, which is raging especially in Western Jutland.
