Every week, the Ibyen editorial team scours Copenhagen’s events, exhibitions, concerts, and pop-ups and selects a range of suggestions for how you can spend your week in the city.

Experience! Do you want to mark All Saints’ Day, but not in that hyper-capitalistic way with sour, neon-green candy, pumpkin spice overload, and bloody polyester costumes? Here are three suggestions for alternative activities.

The first of these is at Vestre Kirkegaard. On Saturday, November 1st, you are invited to the Day of the Dead, where you can remember family, friends, and acquaintances who are no longer here. You can plant a bulb in the lawn, light a candle, or write a letter for and to someone you have lost. Additionally, author Naja Marie Aidt will read from her work ’Har døden taget noget fra dig så giv det tilbage’, and musician Janne Mark will perform. Free admission. Read more here.

If you’re in the mood for a Latin American celebration of Dia de los Muertos, head over to Kulturhuset Indre By on Friday, October 31st. The culture center’s café, La Periferia, invites you to communal dining in true Mexican fashion. Look forward to biodynamic products from farms near Copenhagen transformed into seasonal shared dishes like pan de muerto. There will also be a memorial altar where you can place an item to connect with a loved one. Ticket price: 190 kr. Read more here.

Also at Kulturhuset Union in Nørrebro, there’s a Mexican party titled ’Cumbión de Muertos’. »Come and dance with death«, the invitation reads, celebrating death and life. The celebration includes Copenhagen’s fiesta band Trypical Cumbia and DJ Mescal, armed with Latino bangers. Admission: 80 kr. Read more here.

Experience! If you can’t get enough mystery this Halloween weekend, head to Østerbro. Not because it’s where the trick-or-treat treasures are greatest, but because the ’Mystikkens Univers’ fair is taking place at Østerbrohuset from October 31st to November 3rd. »A sensory fair about hope, immersion, and inner strength«, it promises.

Over 100 exhibitors and speakers will enlighten you on topics ranging from clairvoyance to natural forces and, yes, of course, astrology. You can definitely get a tarot reading and buy an amethyst. Look forward to lectures and workshops with titles like ’Er mit kraftdyr en rotte?’, ’De 5 årstiders energi’, and ’Healingsang og trommerejse’. Admission: 120 kr. Read more here.

Taste! Are you one of those who shed a tear or two over the Instagram announcement that Kuku – the award-winning Iranian street food truck in Nørrebro – is »closing forever« this week? Where will you now get your dark green ghorme sabz served? Don’t worry, Kuku is moving indoors to a brand-new playground for the city’s foodies. Along with nine other well-known favorites and new surprises, Kuku is moving into Nørrebro Bycenter’s new ’food hall’, which opens this Friday, October 31st.

Among the center’s new residents, you’ll find names like Frank’s Toast, Dhaba Kitchen, Bird Bird, and Hermanos Tacos. You are invited to the housewarming event titled ’Tasty Opening’ on Friday, October 31st starting at 11 am, where you can taste crispy toast, smashed burgers, and much more at the stands offering a 20 percent discount. In addition to food, there will also be music with a concert by rapper Gandy and DJ sets by Antosia and Luke Rocc. Free admission. Read more here.
