In the final stretch of the election campaign, political parties are outbidding each other in the race to promise the best conditions for millions of Danish pigs.

This could foster hope and belief that anything other than a purely right-wing government after the election will quickly lead to radically improved animal welfare in the country’s pig farms. But in Aarhus, Professor Jan Tind Sørensen, head of the Department of Animal and Veterinary Sciences at Aarhus University, remains skeptical.
