Danish oil pollution at odds with convention

In 2007, Denmark permitted some 700 tonnes of oil to be discharged from North Sea platforms and in its latest plan of action, the government has dropped its target of 400 tonnes per year.

Discharges are not only harmful to maritime life, but are also at odds with the goals of the Convention for the Protection of the Marine Environment of the North-East Atlantic (OSPAR) of which Denmark is a signatory.
