The world’s largest offshore wind turbine plant is to be constructed in the sea between the Djursland peninsula in Jutland and the island of Anholt. One hundred giant wind turbines are to be constructed with a capacity of 400 megawatts. The turbines will produce electricity equaling the consumption of some 400,000 households.
Three billion
The location of the turbines in the Kattegat waterway has been recommended by a committee of experts under the Danish Energy Agency, among other reasons because there is enough capacity on land to receive electricity from the turbines without having to invest in new facilities.
The park will help reduce Denmark’s greenhouse gas emissions and will cost some three billion kroner.
