Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen (S) calls for a general election to be held on March 24.
It is not entirely unexpected that Mette Frederiksen has called for a general election on Thursday.
Election rumors at Christiansborg have been circulating for a long time, and the election had to be held by October 31 this year at the latest in any case.
Mette Frederiksen has been Prime Minister since 2019. First in a pure S-government and since the 2022 election as part of the SVM-government.
»It is now up to you voters to decide the direction Denmark will take for the next four years, and I am so looking forward to it,« she says, among other things.
Does not exclude coalitions
Mette Frederiksen does not exclude any government coalitions in advance, she says after calling the election.
»Can it again be a government across the political center? Yes. Can it be a government based on the left side of the Folketing? Yes, if it is otherwise maneuverable and can cooperate broadly.«
»I do not exclude anything in advance. For with the times we live in, I will refrain from making ultimate demands,« she says.
