In just a few years, there has been a significant increase in the proportion of students in Copenhagen Municipality who do not pass Danish and math in their final grade school exams. Last summer, 10.9 percent of students failed to pass one or both subjects. Five years ago, the figure was 6.7 percent, according to the municipality’s own data.

»It’s a failure of the public school system that we’re at this level. And we, as a municipality, bear the responsibility«, says Mayor Lars Weiss (Socialdemokratiet), who is both surprised and concerned about the figures.
