The proportion of young people starting upper secondary education after 9th grade has fallen to its lowest level in 10 years.

New figures from the Ministry of Children and Education show that 85.9 percent of students from 9th grade in the school year 2022/23 were either enrolled in or had completed upper secondary education about a year after finishing 9th grade. This is a decrease from 87.7 percent in 2019/20 and 86.9 percent in 2013/14.
