Camilla Broe, who was the first Dane to be deported to a non-EU country, but whose case in the United States fell under the Statute of Limitations, should not expect damages from the Danish state, according to a leading criminal law professor.
“From the case as it stands, the Danish state is not guilty to any major degree of doing anything wrong. The decision to deport was thoroughly studied in the Justice Ministry, the municipal court and the appeal court and the case was decided fully within the framework of the laws that Parliament has passed,” says Criminal Law Professor Jørn Vestergaard.
