State refuses damages for illegal monitoring

After two and a half years of deliberation, the Director of Public Prosecutions has refused to proceed on a demand for damages from former members of Parliament due to the illegal monitoring and registration of their party by the security agency.

The Director of Public Prosecutions said the grounds for his decision was that the illegal monitoring of the Left Socialists had not resulted in cases being raised against party members, and as such could not form the basis of a demand for damages.
