It began with a single cabin in a tree in a forest in Himmerland. That was in 2019, before it became all the rage to send people up off the ground to spend the night in the treetops. In Denmark and abroad alike. And Løvtag, as the Himmerland concept is called, quickly became a success.

The people behind it expanded with five more cabins in the same forest and landed on a variety of international lists of unconventional places to spend the night – from The Guardian to Lonely Planet and Forbes to Politiken, where we wrote about what it was like to experience a forest from the perspective of the garden warbler, the great spotted woodpecker, and the blackbird.
