A yellow gate topped with barbed wire has blocked the main entrance to Peder Lykke School in Amager, Copenhagen for the past six months.

A major renovation was underway to expand the school’s special education classes. But about a month ago, parents of the students were informed that the construction was halted, even though it is far from complete. Instead, the special classes will be phased out.
