It was the Ministry of Digitization, headed by Caroline Stage (Moderaterne), that insisted on conducting a thorough investigation into the past of a 28-year-old woman from Funen. An investigation that led authorities to revoke her Danish citizenship, which she received in 2006 when she, at the age of nine, was adopted by a Danish man.

The Ministry of Immigration and Integration, responsible for the citizenship law and the authority to interpret it, did not believe there was any need to further scrutinize the woman’s circumstances.
