Patients who are involuntarily committed or detained have the right to appeal their detention under the Constitution, the Psychiatric Act, and the European Convention on Human Rights.
Patients who complain about being involuntarily admitted have to wait months for their cases to be heard. That is unacceptable and not in accordance with the law, says the Parliamentary Ombudsman.
