Denmark’s National Geological Research Unit has released new research suggesting major changes in rain and groundwater conditions in Denmark, with forecasts of a Jutland peninsula under water and run-off causing water shortages on the capital island of Zealand.
“It has already started. We have been experiencing more heavy rain and groundwater levels are very high in places. Our research shows that the annual rainfall in Western Jutland has increased by 2-300 mm over the past century,” says GEUS Senior Researcher Torben O. Sonnenborg. The GEUS report is to be published later this week.
