Eleven Greenpeace activists appeared in court Monday on the first day of a court case resulting from a happening at the UN COP15 Environment Summit when two of their number managed to enter the arrival hall where heads of state and government were arriving for a royal gala dinner.
The 11, all of whom have pleaded not guilty, are charged with falsifying documents and number plates, and the unusual and seldom used charge of lèse majesté – or disturbing the peace of the monarch.
