Of all the streets in Copenhagen, I love Istedgade the most. When I moved to Copenhagen – argh! – 27 years ago, Istedgade became my main thoroughfare in what quickly became my new village. The street that came to feel familiar, homely, and safe.

Paradoxically, because Istedgade was and still is one of the city’s most intense streets, where wheeling and dealing happened – and still happens.
