A television program that has made me particularly upset over the years was when Denmark’s Radio, about 10 years ago, aimed to teach families how to save on their food budget so they could afford their dream vacation or a new extension to their home. The program was called ’Spis & Spar’ (’Eat & Save’), and the primary way families could save money was by swapping their usual branded products for a discount version. Essentially, it encouraged trading luxury for low quality and learning to ignore concerns about pesticides, animal welfare, additives, and and above all, prioritize cost over taste.
Food prices have gone through the roof, but your grocery budget doesn’t have to. Many people – though not everyone – can shop smarter without compromising on quality.
