Everyone should be able to afford spaghetti bolognese. That was Mette Frederiksen’s message during the election campaign when the climate tax on beef was debated. But right now, there’s less spaghetti bolognese being made in Danish homes due to record-high beef prices. Figures from Statistics Denmark show, according to Jyllands-Posten, that prices have risen by 73 percent over the past five years, affecting consumption.

At Coop, sales of beef have dropped by 10 percent in the first six months of the year.
